Brought the new Voltage 3818 home..........

Howdy All,

Been a while since I have posted over here, finally had enough of throwing money at my old WW LE3505 toy hauler, traded it in on a new Voltage 3818. Now in the process of figuring all this new stuff out, more darn switches then in a 747. Even thou its a much longer trailer, the old one was 38 feet long the new one is 44, the new one tows much better, as it sits higher I was afraid cross winds might be a problem but towing it home over the mountains and across the flat grasslands with a strong cross wind it handled very well. Now we just have to get it all set up and take our first trip.

    Howdy Sandblast,

Believe me, I know that the Voltage may have issues, then again I ask anyone to name ONE brand of RV that isn't built in a manner that leaves a lot to be desired, I know of NO brand that is without issues and that includes the half million dollar motor-homes that you see on the road and in the camp grounds.

I did my research, paid the money and now like everyone else hopes for the best. I NEED the 18 foot garage, the three air conditioners and the four TV's are something I'll not get much use out of but they are there and when it comes time to sell it to someone younger in a few years I will have a bit more in resale value. In the mean time I am going to enjoy it as much as possible in-between dealing with its issues.

Very well Put Mr. Cob!!! I love the idea of the Freightliner tow vehicle but was scared away when I looked into registration and insurance cost here in Cali.... The RV title is a great angle!! I ended up with a Ford F550 that was hard enough to register and insure and for now it does a great job towing our 42"+ Raptor... Happy RVing!!!

  • Howdy SmittysRV,

Nice setup you have there, enjoy it. Go to this web site, there you will find many who use an HDT as a tow vehicle and many of them are in California.

Join the list, ask questions and gain real world knowledge. Yes you have to jump through some hoops but take my word on this once you tow a large RV trailer with an HDT you'll immediately understand why its becoming more and more popular to do so.

Thx Dave! I believe ya on the HDT capabilities and ease of towing these Large 5ers, I can tell a big difference just doing the jump from the F350 one ton I previously had to the now F550 two ton. I could only imagine that jumping to a HDT would be incredible. I will definitely check that website out, Thank you!!
