First, make sure you take off the crossbar to lighten the load. Next, as Helipilot says, check the locking pin to be sure it's not slipped and is jamming up the works. You got it =in=... I've only had one occasion where I had a problem, and it was with the TO Ball itself. I'd had some sand and dirt in the bed and it worked its way down around the ball, and I couldn't get it out. Some WD-40, liberally applied, and a bit of =careful= persuasion with a long screwdriver and small wood block, got it out.
