- Bob_SueExplorer III think about taking weight off the steer axle by doing this. Putting more of the trailer weight on the rear, and compromising your ability to turn, especially when wet.
- bpoundsNomadCurious why you would want to do that?
I've read reports from several people who do that with other sliders, particularly the Reese. Not sure why, but they get away with it.
You won't find any source that will give it a stamp of approval, so you will be on your own if you try it. Personally I would try it, cautiously, if there was a compelling reason. Can't really think of one. - IdaDExplorerIf you had an emergency stop situation and it popped loose you'd have a trailer with lots of momentum slamming into the front of the hitch. That could be bad news at a really inopportune time. The same thing can't happen when the hitch is in the forward position.
- Bama2nzExplorerGood enough for me. But any special reason why not? It locks in like in forward position. Just asking.

Just wondering if you can pull a wheel with the Companion slide ln rear slide position?
