B/W w/Ram 2014 vs. 2016

I'm currently running a B/W slider in my 2014 Ram that came with the single hole in the middle of the bed. I see in looking at 2016 models that things have changed and now there are 4 holes spread out in the bed. What are the options to make my hitch work with one of these newer trucks?

  • B&W has a special base unit that allows their 5th wheel hitch head to attach to the factory fifth wheel prep package mounts in the newer trucks. So all you need to do is buy the new base unit and use your existing B&W hitch head on it.

Apparently, alot of folks who own older trucks with the Turnoverball/Companion fifth wheel setup must be doing this when they get their new trucks, cause I've been seeing used B&W Companion base units for sale on Craigslist, without the hitch heads.

Sorry.... I didn't explain this well. I've owned the truck since new and it didn't come with 5th prep so when I bought my 5th and hitch they cut out the hole in the middle. I'm just wondering what the easiest way to move that hitch into a 2016 is. It sounds like I'll have to call B/W.

Any conventional 5er hitch made for the ram puck system will work in the 4 outside holes..If you want to go with the center hole, buy a drop in ball and go with a hitch that mounts on the drop in ball...I'd recommend, if you have a long bed in going with the B&W RVK3600...if short bed, an auto slider that will mount on center ball. (Don't know what truck you have or if it's long or short bed)

I am fairly certain your 2014 DID NOT come from the factory with a single hole in the bed. Someone probably added a B&W gooseneck hitch. You need to contact B&W to see if they have an adapter for the 2016's center hole for your Companion to hookup to.
  • Any Ram truck with GN/5th wheel prep package came/comes with FIVE holes in MY 2013 thru 2016 thus far.

I owned a 2013 with the GN/5th wheel prep package and that truck was identical to the 16 I now own....5 holes in the bed.., center hole for a GN and 4 outside holes for the picture frame adapter to put a hitch on, or, in my case now, to mount my B&W RVK3600 Companion hitch..

If truck only has 1 center hole, it was after market..ALL trucks manufactured with GN/5er prep package since 2013, are identical. hole sizes haven't changed.

Just use the same center hole .

It's hard to say from the picture but it looks like the holes are smaller.
