JMO but this bed clearance issue seems to have more to do with how high the overhang is on some of the new 5th wheels. Sure trucks have gotten taller lately, but 350/3500's have always been tall and seem to have done okay. My 2500 is 57" at the bed rail at center of rear tire. With my B&W Patriot I have 6" of clearance and am 2" nose high. Not really an issue. Now if had one of the new Grand Design reflections I'd be 4" nose high. Went to an RV show 3 weeks ago and was looking a Forest River Wildcat Maxx. I could tell for certain by how low the front overhang was that I'd be 4"+ nose high when hitched. I don't think it's a truck issue as much as the way they're building the new lighter 5th wheels. If they raise the over hang up 4" then the bedroom height will get shorter. Can't have both on some of the mid profile types.
