Cameo slide problem

Own a 2008 Carriage Cameo 34CK3. Replaced entertainment slide
48 tooth gear in motor side last year and having same problem again.
Gear assembly is by RBW. Replaced both the 48 tooth
gear on the shaft and the larger gear that it works with 13 months ago.

Tech not sure what is causing the 48 tooth gear to shear a
couple of teeth making the slide jump and come in a little
crooked. Know I see a lot of old/new posts regarding troubles
with various Cameo models and slides. Does anyone know
the cause?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
  • I too had this problem. The dealer put new motors in that had a different gear and rotated the motor so it would mesh deeper into the gear track. Also used Loctite on the bolts to hold to motors in place. Been a couple of years and no problems.
  • Black cell is correct. We had this problem as well, but the solution that we used was that we took the gears and actually welded additional material onto the gear tooth to lengthen the teeth. Also, used star washers and lock tite on the motor bolts to hold it on pace better. It has been several years and so far so good.
  • I haven't had this problem (knock on wood) but I did at one time do some research. Back when Carriage was still in business they said this was a slide Mfg defect. Replacing only the gears will not solve the issue. The gear teeth are too short which over time leads to jumping gears and then stripped teeth. Secondly the mounts are not sufficient leading to mis-alignment and of course stripped teeth. You might prolong the teeth stripping by frequently checking alignment and all the motor mount & gear bolts are tight. Or better take them out and coat them with that red loc-tite stuff.

From what I read and concluded a true fix requires an engineering redesign.

I've heard some folks also had the motor upgraded which are NOT cheap. The Mfg is still in business.

    Complete Repair kit #1245122
    48 tooth gear only #1245472
Motor shaft gear (not included in repair kit) #1255062

If the gears are not perfectly aligned then need to insert shims.
I noticed the Lifestyle's have deeper teeth and bigger motor.

Now, I need to go out this weekend and check mine.

Here's a good link that may help.
