I sort of agree with you about interior styling, my 08 Cougar interior looks like the inside of a Bordello (not that I know what one would look like).
I'm always impressed with how the European campers look inside even some of the Australian units. Very clean and simple.
As far as new trucks go some people have the money and want the newest and the best. If they can afford it more power to them, that's America.
To go into long term debt for a $60k truck, I don't think that's the right path to take, but some people have no choice, that too is America.
