Can I hardwire this?

Hi guys,

I originally purchase this:

Tripp Lite APS750 Inverter / Charger

I was just going to plug the generator/shore power into it. Just wanted something simple and easy to install.

Now I'm wanting to hardwire it because that seems like the easier route in the long run. So my question is, can I hardwire this inverter/charger?

  • When we used them in our remote news vans, we left the plug and socket on them. We would wire a male plug on the end of the romex (trailer outlets) and mount an outlet to plug this unit in.

If you take the cover off, there are 4 screw holes you can use to fasten it to the floor of the trailer. We also remoted the control switch, so the inverter could be kept out of the way with the house battery.
  • Probably makes the most sense, to cut the cable to the length you need to hard-wire to your batteries/connection....and then take a cable with a plug, and hard wire that to the panel, and just plug it in to the inverter.

That would probably be the easiest way, and you won't have to pull the cover off or do anything special, which might void the warranty.

    Happy Camping:)
  • I'm assuming I have to cut off the 3 prong male conector and hardwire that in. How do I hardwire the output/3prong female plug? Do I take it apart and wire it or can I plug in a cable and then cut off the end again and wire it?
