OK...example; I have a trailer frame with dual axles rated at 4400 each. The frame design is well built with a tubular frame. So lets say the axles are rated for 4400 each now and I have 15 inch E rated tires rated at 2470 each. Could I safely upgrade to the 5200 axles to give me a 10400 max load rating vs. the 8800 I have? It is just a shade above what the tires are rated for but is it an option?
What brand/size tire do you currently have? Not finding a 15" E tire at 2470 lbs. An ST 225/75R15E should be 2800+ lbs. Putting 4 Carlisle HDs or Maxxis 8008s would give you nearly 11,500 lbs tire capacity, with the Carlisles having a higher speed rating. Also, with 5200 lb axles, you could also step up to 16" wheels and use LT tires.
