Cant for the life of me figure out how to fill water tank?

We have a 2016 XLR 24hfs. We have managed to camp at places that have all had water hook-ups except one. So I thought ok, no big deal. We can fill the water tank... Not so simple, or I am a moron, on...

Exactly......

With 'FILL' valve open and pump turned on the pump will just 'round-robin' .......suck water up from fresh water tank then discharge it back to fresh water tank via FILL Valve.

Also when on FILL you have to actually fill the fresh water tank. Then turn valve back to city and turn water hose OFF then turn pump on and open a faucet to bleed air/prime pump
