Cant get hitched-Trying to leave
I just cant get my dual jaws to close around the king pin. I need to get down the road.

That's right. OneSpeed has it. On my Reese 16K, the handle is in the closed position but NOT LOCKED prior to back up and hitch. It opens and then slams shut when the hitching is normal. THEN the handle is locked.
I've used this procedure for 18 years with four different fifth-wheels--over 150,000 miles. It's always worked.
