Cant get hitched-Trying to leave

Usually, almost always, we leave the jaws of our Reese closed when hitching up. Then, while backing in you can see the release bar move out and then click back in to signify that the hitch has latched onto the pin. I can even hear it inside my pickup while it's running. Have you tried that?

I don't know about yours, but my jaws have to be close before I back into the king pin.

OK are you hitting the plate and shoving the truck down alittle when backing under it?It sounds like you are high hitching

Pro series 16k. Everything seems functional. It looks to drive in all the way but will not clamp.

what hitch we need more info.does the hitch close without the kingpin in it?
