I'm surprised to hear that in Rv's the practice is that alarms are wired to house batteries instead of to dedicated batteries of their own. Such a practice is illegal in stick-built structures since it means that if the primary power source fails (or is drained) there's no occupant protection.
Our home CO alarm is powered by the wall outlet and has no batteries. I have not seen a home LPG alarm to give any observations.
In theory when house power is not available, you cannot run CO producing devices. Although LPG devices can have a manual valve open or leak, without house power there is no ignition source.
