That probably depends on the size of the basement storage area and how strong the frame is, when we were looking I noticed a great disparity in basement sizes.
In general I doubt most people worry all that much (if ever) about that. If you wanted to fill up on boxes of rocks that would be an issue. But most of the stuff people haul along with them: clothes, BBQ grills, lawn chairs and so on are low density and not likely to overload the 5ver.
