We are in the process of deciding MH or Fifth Wheel. We are about a year away from purchasing. Then first year out after purchasing would be for just 4 months of travel and come back to s&b to work 8 months. Then, maybe, work-camping part years or full time after that. We are open (read undecided).
We have a 9year old dog and a young cat (1 year old). Neither one is "car trained".
We are leaning toward a Fifth Wheel because I'm 6'8" and for the feel of the 5'er.
We're interested in peoples experiences traveling with a cat and dog. We figured the dog in the truck, possibly in a kennel in the backseat of a dually crew-cab truck. What about the cat?? What do people do with the cat when traveling... in a kennel in the truck...in a kennel in the Fifth Wheel...loose in the Fifth Wheel...???
Some may put an animal in their 5th wheel......but if you take a brief ride (guaranteed it *will* be brief) in a TT or 5th wheel....
most pet owners would not do that..:(
Could be especially traumatic for a cat!
The ride in a *MH* is intended for "human" creature comfort going down the road - like an OTR truck (a semi).
TTs & 5ths are not.
Also in a MH the pet owner is there to observe pet behavior.
Mine: Two dogs - one small, one medium - ride in back seat of CC truck. Sometimes in kennels, sometimes not.
There are various dog restraints as an option to kennels in a car or truck - - but not aware of one for cats.
You might try your question on the "RV Pet Stop" forum (here).
Can't double post - so use a new title- (re-word your question) - for your topic.
