Getting a good ground for the antenna mount mounted to the trailer could be challenging. My personal experience with the no ground plane antennas hasn't been good but you may make out better. Then , how to run the coax back to the radio so it's out of the way and looks decent , also one more thing to remember to unhook. My setup is the antenna is mounted between the cab and truck box and seems to work well
How about a mount to the pin box? You're grounded to the trailer frame and cabling could be run through a front cabinet wall or even the floor under the bed. With a quick-connect, you could swap cables to one running into the truck for a radio in there using the same antenna. The only other thing I could think of is a =long= mast tied to the external ladder, that would be set up/taken down as needed.

That's A good idea to try too.
