- Traveler_IIExplorerChannel 13 is a great idea for RVers, but it won’t work unless RVers promote the use of it. Several ideas, one put a sign on your RV, one big enough for other to see that you use Channel 13. Even when you’re not on the road others will see it at RV parks and other places you travel.
Pick a date say i.e., Memorial Day week-end, that all RVers with a CB are going to be on Channel 13 and find ways to promote the heck out of it. Facebook, blogers, forums, signs on your RV, RV clubs, etc.
Back in the seventies that’s what the truckers did to promote their channel, and today with the Internet you have far more ways of promoting it. - empty_nestExplorerI still have my CB, but once the antenna broke, I didn't bother to replace it and haven't used it in several years, partly because there aren't the people using them like they used to and partly because of the language on ch. 19. I'm okay with some of it, but some people on there are real pigs!
Anyway, I like this ch. 13 idea. I think we'll dust her off and pick up a new antenna before our road trip in June. Maybe we'll get a chance to chat. :) - CrabbypattyExplorerWhen towing. I use a magnetic mount on the roof. It goes on when we leave and away when we camp. Saves traffick headaches most of the time. Ive listened to 13 going down I95 never heard anyone on it, but ill try it again this summer.

That's perfect Bumpy. Buy an inexpensive radio and save the $$ for a really good antenna like a K30 or Wilson. They are well worth the money.
I am afraid that you would be very disappointed in the aerial that I am using. :) I only want to reach a mile or so up the road so I am not particular.
bumpy - ADKSnowbirdExplorerWe normally run with it off and turn it on 19 when we need info or to determine what the traffic slow-down is all about. Did not know that RVers were using 13. I may keep it on and monitor 13 now.
- azandy70ExplorerWe always use one while towing. Nice when others ahead tell you what lane to be in when traffic backs up. Or you can ask. Last year, was a big wreck ahead. Driver gave mile marker and we simply pulled off at a rest stop for lunch. Was nice rather than sit in stopped traffic. After an hour, traffic was moving again. We got going again and had zero stress.
- Splashers3Explorer...like the Wilson 1000 - which from research is better than the K30.
- GPG52_Explorer IILike rattleNsmoke, I keep a CB in my TV to monitor traffic flow, lane changes and get some insight as to how to avoid traffic jams.
Channel 19, Weather Alert.
We turn it off when the chatter becomes distracting and unprofessional.
An RV channel would be nice.
We have avoided DC traffic for a number of years, but were going to chance it this year. Well seems things have not changed; time to reconsider our trip routing. - BumpyroadExplorerI bought a little Cobra today at walmart, $34.95. has a button for 9 or 19 quick select.
