- BumpyroadExplorerI leave mine on channel 19 for reports from the semi drivers. very little chatter now days compared to olden days.
very useful when coming up on a city to ask oncoming truckers whether to take North or South bypass or head straight on through.
bumpy - GoostoffExplorerI have 2 of them. I have a Uniden Grant XL in my jeep, and I just bought a Cobra 29LX for the dually.
- Dennis_M_MExplorerWe keep the CB on Ch 19, but the volume is usually turned down do to the vast amount of garbage chatter in any congested area. Out in the country I might turn it up.
We leave it turned on as the weather band will sound off with a warning even with the volume down. - 57_PanheadExplorer

Just wondering if people still use them? If so what channel do rver's use?
I use both a CB and a Valentine Radar. CB gives me info on road conditions and location of near by "Bears". Driving without radar is an invitation to get a ticket to the "policemen's Ball". Or you can drive like about 10% of RVers and drive the speed limit:(
The primary purpose the 55 MPH speed limit was passed was to conserve fuel not necessarliy for safety reasons. In a theoritical, ideal world where all RV drivers drove 55 MPH, this would make total sense:)
I drive 58-60mph when pulling our 5er and 56-57mph when double towing with the boat hooked up behind the 5er. Don't have to worry about cops and tickets at all. Nice leisure fuel efficient drive. We are retired and not in a hurry to get anywhere.
Still have the CB I had in my truck at work and do take it when we are on trips. I have it set up so that it comes out easily when not traveling.

My how the times have changed. I still have 2 CB's somewhere in the garage, but have not used them in quite a while. I wonder if they still work?

For truckers, Channel 17 on the west coast. Channel 19 for all other states. You can just give a "break break, what channel is everyone using?". A trucker will tell you what channel most people are using in that specific area. There is no functioning Channel just for RVers. - Son_of_NorwayExplorerI monitor channel 19. I always have a CB on board when we travel. There are a lot of gaps in cell phone coverage, particularly out west. CB's are also useful for warnings about road conditions.
Miles - 2oldmanExplorer III don't know what 5th wheelers use, but these cb posts may be of help.
