- dbblsExplorerIt is very loud compared to the red or blue ones. If you only use it when you are away from other campers and the noise doesn't bother you, it might be ok. You get what you pay for.
- bywaysExplorerI'm guessing the OP is referring to the new 3100 watt inverter from Champion. It is only 58db. Not any louder than the reds or blues.

Yep that is the one. It maybe a little louder but not $1200'louder. - bradykExplorerI am a yellow man all the way with 3 of them but watch the specs for sound on the 3100 model. They are using a different formula to get the 58db. Champion is at 23ft and the Red is 48 @1.5m (5 ft approx) and 58db @7m (23 feet approx). So standing on top of the red model is the same as standing 23 feet away from the yellow. Not sure how close that is in the real world. Saying that specs aside would I consider buying one of course based on the ones I own. I still would like to see a 3k inverter with electric or some kind of remote start.
- John_BridgeExplorerYep, you do get what you pay for. I shopped and compared for over a year before I plunked down the money for the Honda twins. They are very quiet and very dependable. :)

Not questioning, but curious, are you saying they are the same? "Champion is (58db) at 23ft and the Red (Honda) is....58db @ 7 meters..." - Mike_LeClairExplorerYup, you do get what you pay for. I plunked down the money for the Champion twins, one black and one yellow. They are very quiet, very dependable and start easily in very cold conditions.
As always, YMMV
Cheers!

I kind of agree but silence is a big reason to buy an inverter genset.
If its not going to be quiet why not buy the $300.00 regular champ.
The inverter Champion may be quieter but is it $500.00 quieter than the non inverter Champion?
Regardless in all cases you get what you pay for - Atom_AntExplorerHow come the guy with the noisy generator can never hear it?
