If I were you, I'd try it for myself before I bought it. I'm running 2 each Yamaha EF2000is generators in parallel for a theoretical 4000 watt peak output, and everything has to be set just right for them to start one 15K BTU A/C in our Mobile Suites. Of course, our generators are also powering the converter and residential fridge (normally powered by an inverter when off-grid) in addition to the A/C, but a 3.1KW generator might be marginal at best - I believe the Camping World catalog rates a 3KW generator as being good for a 13.5K BTU A/C.
Better to know for sure than to spend the bucks and be disappointed....
