:h This is what that service mgr said;
"...they were seeing more used units showing up with improperly applied sealant products especially on the roof which affected resale value and marketability."
I've been on a many used units roofs when I had my mobilehome/rv repair business. And I've been on several RV roofs on dealers lots checking things out before I buy.
I found a 5 years old beautiful Mobile Scout that the interior was like new. The wife and I always wanted one.
However I crawled up on the rear ladder and was met by long 4" white bandaid strips of Eternabond done the sides and across front and rear cap to roof lap joints and all the roof jacks and fixtures. I didn't bother to look farther and see if the job was done professionally. It was a deal killer for me.
If that had been my unit then you would have passed up a great trailer that had never had a bit of water damage or any other kind of damage done.
Eternabond on the roof does not automatically mean water problems in the past.
I attend many rv shows and have yet to find any new trailers that are as well built and look as good as my 12 year old Sunnybrook. Many of us put that Eternabond up there as a preventitive measure and the heck with trade in value or selling it in the future. Mine will stay with me as long as I can continue to travel.
