Yeah, like Carlisle...they're GREAT on my riding lawn mower and that would be the only thing I own that would have Carlisle tires on it.:)

Tires made in China by the likes of MIchelin will have a good reputation from years of having a good reputation and the plants were opened and people trained by MIchelin people and standards were put in place to NOT tarnish the reputation of "Michelin"..

Again, the only "stand alone" China named tire, ie, "Sailun", also meets same ISO TS16949 standards as my manufacturing plant here in the United States needs to meet and maintain to be competitive on the Global market...It tells me they have high standards in their Manufacturing/Quality processes and can prove it out with documented records...

Use to be, the ONLY game in town, when it came to a GOOD G rated tire was the GY G614, a tire which is now on my 5er...and came on my new 5er...NOW, there is some good competition to "meet and/or beat" the GY G614 tire, and that is the Sailun S637 G rated tire, which has a great price and after several years of being on the market and more and more reporting good things about it since coming onto the market...until we start getting bad reports, it is a cheaper priced tire, that meets or exceeds the quality of a GY G614. Pretty much it in a nut shell..It is what it is....just like everything else in life....The "you get what you pay for" is still in effect, but some need to understand, like everything else, there are "exceptions" to the rule"...at this point, it appears that the Sailun S637 is one of those...Only time will tell...thus far, it appears it's a nicely priced quality product....Those that report on them should help us know as time goes by, just how good of a deal this tire really is.

including GY Marathons when *they* were mfg in the USA.

Mainland China is very capable of mfg tires to the desired specs -
that includes Michelin mfg facilities in mainland China.

The "good reputation" Maxxis (Cheng Shin Rubber Co.), HQ in Taiwan (the "other China") also has mfg facilities in mainland China.


Use *ST* tires - pay very close attention to their "condition" at all times.....they *ARE* IEDs..:W

35 miles from factory with new unit. I here a BOOM.

If you would do a little researching into the current trailer builders regulations you will find that cant be done. Even after the papers have been signed it would probably void a lot of the trailer warranty protection.

As I have said before the OEM tires should be considered delivery tires only.
Manufacturers will put the exact same tire on park models as they do tow behinds.
The manufacturer installs the cheapest tires that barely make spec as most unit are only towed from the dealership to seasonal campground maybe once a year.
For those of us that want to tow thousand of miles yearly why would you trust your many tens of thousand of dollar investment on the cheapest OEM tires that you have no idea how they were used and abused during delivery.
Over-speed, under-inflated and bounced off curbs during delivery from factory to dealership damages these already junk tires.
Make it part of your purchase deal to not accept a unit without new quality name brand tires.

A trailer during delivery is the lightest it will ever travel on a highway. Speed, weight and inflation are all inter related! Running light over 65 will have a lot less impact on the tires than after the trailer is purchased and loaded up in some cases close to GVWR and the max tire rating. Just saying! Chris

I had 2 Hi-Run tires separate the same day about 300 miles apart. Damage on both sides if the trailer, each tire was on a different axle. Not even close to being overloaded, had certified weights done before trip, kept at 65 and under. Trailer was 3 months old and was just delivered to dealer when we purchased. Manufacturer fixed all the damage and paid for all new Goodyear tires including the spare.

From my readings, the Sailun is good brand regardless of where it is made. I hear the GY Marathons are problematic no matter if made here or in China, but that could be a design issue.
As for that speeding transport driver, Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" comes to mind. Most tires on new RVs are Chinese ST tires rated to 65 mph and the transport speeds may be the beginning of the end for them. However, I've seen too many cases of Chinese replacement tires also having problems as well to put my trust in that generic group. At least the transport drivers are getting the blame as opposed to the we are all idiots who don't know how to check our tires school of thought.
