Weight of the trailer doesn't seem to make a lot of difference in mpg. Wind drag is where the difference comes from. Some trailers are better designed with lower drag coefficients than others. I get 9-11mpg towing either a 21' 5000lb TT or a 30' 8500lb 5th wheel.
