We have tried a snake, we have tried filling the tank, we've stuck a hose down it with a sprayer. Those haven't worked. The pipe in this RV goes down, curves, then dumps into the tank. So, by reading more I'm thinking that this is a black pyramid issue. Maybe it's right next to the pipe that drops into the tank. So, how do you guys fix black tank pyramid issues. We left the tank filled for 4 days before trying to re-empty it, it just filled right back up again. I emptied the tank a while ago, a little came out, but not as much as I expected to considering the sensor in here read full. I don't know where that censor is located, but it doesn't seem that the tank is full rather than a clog near or in the pipe. Any suggestions?Edited to say: There's a clog somewhere for sure because the toilet water is backing up into the tank. We can push the foot lever down and see water and tp in it.

First the sensors are notorious for false readings. If you know how much the tank is suppose to hold you can try using a 5 gallon pail to fill it and measure how you can actually put in the tank. You might try filling the tank and adding a digesting bacteria like you use to clean drain lines to eat and soften any pile. I have found a 1/2 tank of water with water softener (NOT fabric softener) taken for a drive to slosh around helps clean the sensors.Good Luck.

The sensors are in the tank and are not reliable. But it sounds like you have a a real issue on your hands. You need to determine weather it's a plug up in the black tank drain plumbing, or in the black tank inlet plumbing from the toilet. A snake would need to be used in both cases.

These coupons and deals generally only apply to sticks and bricks houses, so be warned you might not be able to find a Roto-Rooter guy willing to mess with your "delicate RV plumbing."

This is why I suggested asking Roto-Rooter about putting one of their video cameras down into the tank for a good look around. That much they are willing to do as far as I know. They did it for a friend of mine.

Call and inquire about the camera and be upfront that it's for an RV black tank.

Call your local RV repair facility and ask them who they would use in your area to deal with your problem.

IMHO Roto Rooter would not be the best choice. You need someone that knows RV's.

It may vary from region to region but I recently saw a commercial advertising $99.00 for clog removal service. I'm in the Portland Oregon area.

Yeah I already looked at their site and saw the coupons. I just wonder what they charge to come out and flush the thing. I'll have to call them either tomorrow or Monday and find out.

You think it will work on a curved pipe? I'll go get one tomorrow if you think it'll work.

No stores around here have one, I'd have to order one online somewhere.

Pick up one of this type of drain cleaners. Attach a garden hose to one end, shove it down the pipe, turn on water.....it will expand and seal pipe then power flush the line.

Have tank drain OPEN when you blast away.

Should be able to find at ACE, Lowes, Home Depot etc.

IF it doesn't blow the clog out then you will need to have a plumber attack it with a roto-rooter with a blade attachment

Getting hold of a camera seems to me to be a pretty good option at this point. How crappy would it be to pull that pipe when it's not the problem.

Just had a goofy thought - has anyone ever tried using a regular plunger on an RV throne, Yes, the plunger requires water, but we seem to have some water to work with in the pipe. Worth a try! But yes, if the pipe has a problem the problem will not go away.
