Glad your enjoy data collecting----everyone needs a hobby
I’ll leave all of that for the DOT guys to collect. For my data, I’ll continue to log the obvious, using common sense.
Man, I seemed to have offended the 1/2 ton guys on here. That wasn’t my intention. I set out to measure most popular ‘Tow Rigs’ for for heavy camper trailers. I’m focusing exclusively on trailers that ‘should’ be towed by at least a 3/4 ton truck. I’m using basic common sense and experience. Yes, I can tell a Ram from a Ford, and I can tell a 6.0 from a 6.4, and a 5.9 from a 6.7, etc. and with prob 95% accuracy, just like most ‘truck guys’ can. And I can also form a reasonable conclusion that the 1/2 ton pick up I’m passing is overloaded, not matched correctly, or not set up properly. With that said, ‘most’ 1/2 guys I see are in fact set up correctly and I see many modern 1/2 tons pulling trailers of respectable size with no issues. But every now and then (we all see) the poor guy dragging his bumper, fighting sway, pulling a trailer he shouldn’t be pulling with a 1/2 ton truck.
