We did not want to be limited where we could camp when we wanted to upsize our TH. I also could not afford to upgrade the tow vehicle at the same time as the RV, so selection was even more critical to stay within capabilities.
We decided to split the living space from the garage and attach the appropriate sized garage based on destination. A truck camper is not for everyone, but it gives us so much more flexibility than we did not have in the past. I take the TC skiing weekly in the winter with nothing else attached. During events and concerts, it also gives us a place to overnight before returning the next day instead of having to drive home late at night or in heavy event traffic. Putting a cargo basket on the rear allows us to haul a scooter, bicycles, firewood or outside furniture. towing a short flat bed allows us to take more two wheelers, a SxS or boat. Hooking up the large enclosed trailer allows us to take any combination we want plus it is protected from weather and prying eyes.
