oh my goodness we are in the market and shopping now for a toyhauler.
size limitations are hampering me big time. we love state parks and want to keep it in the 36-38 ft range.
I want bath and a half. well the models with that are in the 39-40+ ft range mostly, and the FEW (like 2 models) I found smaller with 1/2 bath all have master and living/kitchen designs I don't like.
compromise. hubby says I have to do it :) but I don't want to. this is alot of money to be spending and I shouldn't have to compromise but as I see it, hitting all the 5th wheel toyhauler manufacturer sites, it seems I will be compromising on something.
we all say this time and time again, I wish I could design the floorplans.
and no, custom design is out of the question.
just wanted to know if any of you compromised when getting a toyhauler or if you did find that right fit design and are more than happy with it?
just chatting out some anxiety on this upcoming purchase.
Agree, agree, agree! Oh, sister! I'm right there with you! I started a thread here recently on pin weights with toy haulers, and yes, even with the one we have in mind....there are going to be sacrifices necessary to stay within our truck's specs. Buying a newer truck at this point is out of the question, and we are limited to only one toy hauler with a half bath that meets *most* of our other desires.
What we wanted was a roomy, open floor plan with a half wet bath, adequate kitchen and counter top space, a loft, a shower big enough for two, a patio deck to spread out on, adequate insulation and cold weather protection, and finally an outdoor kitchen to keep the cooking mess and heat from cooking outside as much as possible. As it turns out, those are lofty expectations. Yes, I know where you are coming from!
Well, we cannot have all of that. Our truck just won't do it, and as much as we like the spaciousness of a 43' toy hauler and having an outdoor kitchen built right in and all that other stuff I mentioned, we won't fit it in just anywhere and fuel is going to cost an arm and a leg pulling that much weight around. Not to mention we plan on boondocking, and the water is going to weigh a lot too. And we didn't even plan on bringing our 4-wheelers - just bicycles, kayaks, metal detectors, so a small garage suited us just fine.
So anyhow, what we've had to do was to ask ourselves to prioritize our "wants" list and give up some things, and also to brainstorm other ways we could have some of the things we wanted that won't be in the toy hauler from factory, and what we could do to beef up the truck to ensure, even though the only toy hauler on our list at this point is (barely) within our truck's specs, that we're not ultimately trashing our truck.
I would be happy to converse with you via PM. Apparently this type of decision is not a family decision to everyone, but it is to us and we understand what you are going through! If I know the complete list of things you wanted, maybe I can pass along some of the ideas that we have on compromises. Feel free to PM me if you like. :>)
