Conversation to Disc brakes

Can anyone with a 2011 Carriage Cameo 36FWS help me with some information? I am going to convert over to disc brakes and what information do I need to obtain the parts. I have 7000# Dexter axles with 17.5 wheels. Do I need to know what size electric brakes I have now and also would I need to know what # inner and outer bearings I would need. Thanks in advance for any information I can get.
  • Get your axle info off the metal tag on the axle. Call any one of a number of places and tell them what you got, ask what you need, and give them your CC number to order.
  • I would call these people.

  • You know, I have never had a CONVERSATION with my drum brakes to see if they wanted to be replaced with disc brakes.:) Sorry, couldn't resist.
  • This is the price I got from "Stop your trailer" about three years ago. Mounted the Pump, ran all the brake lines (hard lines) and wiring while still using the trailer. Swapping the hubs and adding the flex lines only took one day. Disk brakes make a tremendous difference.

    (From "Stop your Trailer" )
" The cost of the kit required to convert your trailer would be $1,538.17. This price includes. 1- Titan BrakeRite Pump 2- Sets of Kodiak Disc Brake with 8 lug 9/16 studs and new bearings 1- Tandem flex line kit 1- Titan Adapter Module Free Shipping Thank you, Bill Halasyn (813) 363-4685"
This is a fairly easy change. Running the brake lines was the boring part. Price, I'm sure, has gone up .

In any event call Bill Halasyn at 813-363-4685. He can help you....

We really do need a "like" button on this forum........:p
  • I just had mine done by Performance Trailer Braking. I recommend calling them (Ron) and he will be happy to talk with you.

I'm pretty sure that the axle size and number of wheel bolts is the only real info needed. I suspect that once you tell Ron the info you stated above he can answer any questions you have. He is a very nice guy and a fountain of knowledge on this subject. They sell all-inclusive kits for DIY and also have crews that travel around doing installs.

Bearings came with the kit for my install.
