My converter also tripped my GFI (Portable 30 amp unit) so basically I would need to unplug the factory installed charger while on a GFI receptalce.
You can run a separate cord to a non-GFI just of the charger. The charger only uses 1-4 amps, so a 16 gauge extension cord is fine for temporary use.
You can also buy a small battery charger, such as a portable 10 amp unit. It might not trip the GFI, and you can use that in place of the factory 45 amp unit. Sure it will take 24 hours to make the 175 amp hours or so that a RV typically uses in one day. But it will get the job done.
