- Y-GuyModeratorSaw this on another post here and thought I'd share with you, amazing what some creative people like you can come up with.
The Decoliner - The_TexanExplorerWith your ability and knowledge, a custom built wind deflector from above the windshield to the top of the sleeper would soften the front and could give you tons of enclosed storage for clothes and other personal items.
Yes, a custom built flatbed with storage would make the rear look more in tune with the box shaped front end and again, give you some much needed storage for camping supplies and tools. - texasclarksExplorerI think there are a few things that make it look "odd."
#1 - the transition from cab to sleeper is very forced - and that is both on the sides and the top. A softer, more gradual affect may help. That could be done with something as simple as fiberglass or sheet metal making it a more gradual change.
#2 - the color shift from red, to black, back to red - obviously easily fixed with a paint job upon completion.
#3 - the line along the bottom of the truck is not consistent so it makes it look like it was not meant to go together. I somehow want a more solid line as it transitions from the cab to the sleeper along the bottom as well. I would continue this beyond the cab if you were going with a truck bed or even with something in front of the duals if a flatbed - whether that be storage boxes, etc. I agree a flatbed may be better, but that is my opinion.
I still applaud you for trying this out...I wish I had the resources (time, energy, tools, knowledge, location, etc.) to take on such a project. - Y-GuyModeratorI agree, just looks "odd" but can't figure out what doesn't work. I think flatbed bed might do it, or one of those Custom 5th Wheel Hauler Beds
- tj548Explorer IIA wind deflector in front of the sleeper will soften the vertical change. I would hold judgement until I see the 5th wheel hooked up. The sleeper looks so large and sticks out like a sore thumb but when you have the fifth wheel hooked up, that will help the visual line going off the back. Just my thoughts.
- rehoppeExplorerI'd have to admit that it looks odd to my eye. But keep in mind that I'm NOT into Red trucks anyway. So I'd be about paint from the get go.
Well,,,, you asked.
:B
Perhaps just paint one or the other?
Or maybe just get a Class 7 with the sleeper already in place? But once again, that's just me.
All in all... It's a very nice Camper for your Camper! - five_erExplorerIs this one of those questions like.. Do these pants make me look fat?
Well, you're not my wife so let me be honest here..
I think it does look a bit out of place.. I beleive it's the transition between the roofline of the truck and the sleeper plus one is more of a rounded style and the other is boxy. The roof of the truck cab is low so the transition to the sleeper is a bit forced. OR, maybe it's the 1-2 feet between the drivers door and the sleeper.. Not sure, maybe both.
Maybe if you cut the cab back tighter OR fill in those windows and drop a big fat chrome stack between the cab and sleeper on both sides it would distract the eye or make the transition better.. - SecuritiExplorer

It does look kind of funny, but it could be just the paint color of the bunk that draws your eyes to it.But I think a flat bed would be the way to go. So whats up with the big double dually now that this is in the works?
I am still working on the dbl dually. But on something different. Was going down road a couple days ago. And the center of flywheel ripped out :(. So I am in the process of changing that rt now. And that involves taking transmission out. I am somewhat not happy bout that one. Thanks for asking. - jetboater454ExplorerIt does look kind of funny, but it could be just the paint color of the bunk that draws your eyes to it.But I think a flat bed would be the way to go.
