CO/Propane detector

We were just loading our 5th wheel for a trip & the CO/propane alarm went off. It is a built in unit with an expiry date of 2015. The propane wasn't turned on. Reset than went off again. It happened 3 times. I left the screen door open for a few minutes. Now it seems fine. It had been closed up for about 24 hours. The only thing I was doing at the time was turning the water on for the first time. Could the antifreeze fumes cause this?
Could the unit be bad?
Should I replace it?
We're leaving on a long trip in a couple of days. Any help would be appreciated.
  • Sounds better than mine last year. It went off (Propane detector) and would not go off. I was on Shore power and had a couple days of my trip left. It went off for a steady 20 minutes until i could take it off the wall and cut the power to it. Now i have to buy a new one before my trip in a couple weeks.
  • Was it always plugged in to AC power OR did you just plug it in when getting ready?

Battery shows 'full charge'.........those panel indicators will always show full charge when plugged into AC power.

If you just plugged it in when getting ready......agree that low battery voltage was cause of alarm and then as battery voltage increased from charging alarm reset.

This is a combo unit (CO & Propane)?
Always thought 'propane' detectors were installed down floor level and CO detectors higher on wall due to the way the vapors collected......hummmmmmm :H

I have seen combo CO/Smoke detectors but not CO/propane detectors.

If the trailer has been sitting for a while, you may have been getting a low-voltage alarm based on battery condition. As soon as the battery charged a little, the alarm condition went away.

The trailer was plugged into 120 volt at the time. The battery shows a full charge.
