I have Michelin Mud and Snow tires on my truck. I'd have go to the truck to find out exactly when I changed tires for the first time on the truck. I think it was between 60-70,000 miles on the OEM tires. Now I have 130,000 miles on the truck so the Michelin M&S tires have 60-70,000 miles on them and the tread depth is about half of what it was new. So I have a real affection for Michelin tires. I'm still a little leary about the 3,040 lb load rating on the Michelin Ribs. However, I seriously doubt we will ever have that much weight on any of these tires. Our Pin Weight has always been in the 2000 to 2500 lb region and the rest of the 5th wheel trailer tires have never had close to 3,000 lbs on them when we have weighed at DOT scales.
The 2006 3400RL has a Shipping Weight of 11,650 lbs, a Carrying Capacity of 2325 lbs at a pin weight of 1975 lbs at shipping weight. This offers a GVWR of 13,975 lbs. So if the pin weight is well over 2,000 lbs and the 5th wheel is loaded light, the weight on the 2 6,000 lb axles is considerably less than 12,000 lbs and each tire has considerably less than 3,000 lbs. We have removed both of the original recliners and also removed the heavy clunky old type CRT TV's. And we have removed one of the chairs. One new but much lighter recliner has been added back in. We travel with all the tanks empty with the exception of maybe 10 gallons of fresh water and less than 5 gallons of fluid in the black tank. Very minimul groceries in the pantry and regrigerator and limited clothes. We have approached a total weight of the 5th wheel at around 13,000 lbs at times. With over 2,000 lbs on the pin we have less than 11,000 lbs on the axles and wheels. We weigh often at DOT scales that are temporarily closed for the truckers but still will show weights even if they are unattended.
