Received some really interesting Quotes on (4)235/85 R16 Firestone Transforce HT's today. Got three different OUT THE DOOR quotes:
Firestone dealer #1: $811.40
Firestone dealer #2: $647.82 .. Only this coming Black Friday!
Independant dealer : $ $713.00
Firestone offers a more extensive Road Hazard coverage for around $24 a tire. Neither Firestone dealer ecommended it and the Independant dealer could not offer it. Need to read the warranty/road hazard info to see if it is worthwhile or even makes sense.
Best Michelin Ribs quote I have received is $1316 at Costco with Discount Tire at $1369. Discount Tire adds a Certs Road Hazard thing for about another $24 each tire.
So bottom line Transforce HT's are available for less than half the price of Michelin Ribs. A savings of over $650 to $700.
I need to read the respective warranty and road hazard documents and see if there is any surprises in them. Otherwise, I'm starting to lean toward the Firestone Transforce HT's. The savings would help, we have had a tough financial year.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions to consider before I drop the hammer?
PS: The first 5th wheel damage quote came in today: $629. Going to put tin in place of the Darco fabric in the wheel well. Not sure how to react to that. Haven't heardback from TireCo yet on the FreeStar Carcus I sent them. Our RV insurance has a $325 deductable.
I think I would be very happy if we could get out from under this whole mess for around $1,000
