Have been getting conflicting information from Firestone tire dealers on what the real warranty is on the Transforce HT LT235/85 R16 tires when mounted on a 5th wheel. And whether an extra cost Road Hazard warranty is even avaialable when these specific tires are mounted on a 5th wheel. Called Firestone HQ and got a complete run around from gophers who really didn't understand the question. After a few transfers they finally suggested that they would have Firestone's local Phoenix District Manager call me to help with my questions. He did call. Rick Beata 430 443-0606 called back and was very straight forward and succint. Now this information probably conflicts with what others have been told. I'm only repeating what Firestone's District Manager, Rick Beata, told me and I have no other direct Firestone guidance to go on that differs from this.
Firestone will not honor ANY warranty on these tires if they are mounted on a 5th wheel. Not the basic warranty that normally comes with the tire or any extra cost warranty such as Road Hazard coverage. End of discussion.
Now I know that differs from what others have posted here on RV.net. I don't know if what I was told is a Regional thing or a National Policy. But that is what I have been told by direct Firestone District Management.
That has really soured me on the Firestone tires so I am going back to giving Michelin XPS Ribs serious consideration again. According to the Discount Tire store manager, Scott Petello, at the store on Power Road in Mesa, AZ, is pretty sure Michelin does not take exception to their warranty because the Michelin XPS Ribs are mounted on a 5th wheel. My response was I want 100% assurance that they will be covered with the standard Michelin Warranty. He will be calling Michelin corporate HQ on Friday to get me that assurance and call me back. Discount Tire also sells a extended type warranty that adds the Road Hazard coverage for around $24 extra per tire. Not sure that is worth $24 a tire but I need to read the fine print on that coverage.
