Received a letter from Tireco regarding the failed FreeStar tire I sent them under warranty. They have denied the warranty claim according to them the tire was flat/run underinflated with a whole bunch of possible causes except for the real reason and that is they built a defective tire. Don't ever own or have mounted on your trailer or 5th wheel any tires sold by TireCo and/or Mission or Freestar branded ST tires. Both brands of tires failed in about 10,000 miles of usage. The last also damging the 5th wheel.
Have received three quotes to repair the 5th wheel. One who came out to look at it for around $650 and two others who quoted based on pictures I sent them for around $1600. Both of these later quotes include repairing the water heater area and removal and reinstall. The first lower quote makes no mention of anything to do with the water heater. I need to go look at the damage again. I don't recall seeing any damage to the water heater area.
If the damage is truly $1600 worth we will need to file a claim with our RV insurance company where we have a $375 deductable.
This whole replacement tire thing has me now very frustrated. I'm going to contact Keystone/Montana HQ to see what they recommend since they created this whole mess to begin with by putting underrated springs and rims on the 5th wheel and then added insult to injury by putting on POS ST Chinese Bomb tires on it.
