Cougar 330 RBK-what type of 2nd A/C

In the near future I may want to add a second A/C unit in the bedroom of my fiver. It is set up for it already---electricity is there. How do I know if it is ducted or not? If I take the vent apart will I know...I am thinking I would. Does anyone have a Cougar fiver with the second A/C? Maybe you could tell me what style to look at.

X2 about Atwood stated to be very quiet.

  • We have a 2014 Cougar 327 RES and had the dealer install the 2nd AC in the bedroom pre-wired vent. It is a stand alone non-ducted unit.
Works like a charm even in the Florida heat. Once the RV is cooled down we shut down the main living room unit and let the air flow through the upstairs hallway down the stairs and in the main RV body. Keeps us cool and much quieter for watching the TV.
On super hot days we place a small fan in the bedroom facing out through the doorway to help move that cool air to main unit.
    Enjoy!
  • Can' t speak about the Cougar, but mine had the duct at the bedroom vent, just sealed off. But I decided to go non-ducted. I didn't feel the duct cross-section and number of vents was adequate.
  • If you have a 14" x 14" vent in your bedroom that's pre-wired for the 2nd A/C, then it's not going to tie into the ductwork. It will drop in in place of the vent and have a fascia on the ceiling with controls, outlet vents and return air.

  • Most are not tied into the duct work of the main AC.If it is in your bedroom,do your self a favor and put a Atwood in.MUCH MUCH MUCH quieter than a Dometic. With a Dometic the good news is all you hear is the AC.The bad news is all you hear is the AC.On ours someone could tear off the front door and I wouldn't hear it.Wife says it does a good job of covering up my snoring.A Atwood is in our future.
  • I may be wrong, but I don't think any of the prewired install later bedroom A/C are ducted. The rear A/C is ducted to the bedroom.
