Many of the original cushions have a zipper in one side to remove the foam for washing. If so, just get some new foam and have at it. Hobby Lobby probably carries it, but I haven't checked recently.
They can be re-foamed and or recovered, or totally made from new.
Ours, from the factory have Velcro sewn to the back side of the cushions and Velcro on the plywood. They stay put.
