With 5vr sitting level how much truck bed rail clearance do you have??
And NO......your pin box mounting bracket doesn't have any 'wings' to cut off. Fact is it is nicely rolled over on the edges.
DO you REALLY need that sliding hitch?
With it in rearward position yo will continue to whack tailgate during sharp maneuvering ......again bed rail clearance?
CHRIS.........
Thought that pin box picture looked familiar :B
The bed rail clearance came out great... I have about 8". And, no, I don't think I really need the slider. The 5th is specifically marketed with an 88 degree turning radius for 6.5' beds. I just didn't want to need it and not have it.
One of the reasons I also went with the slider is because with my last truck/5th setup the underside of the 5th would almost hit the back corners of my bed in the frontward position (driveway slopes down from the street and when my rear wheel come up the driveway apron it puts the 5th at quite an angle). By sliding it back I was able eliminate that problem. Without knowing the bedrail clearance when I bought the hitch I went the cautious route.
Backing in does seem a bit easier with the hitch slid back since it changes the pivot point. The main thing I need to do is get back out and play around with it to see 1- can I run with the gate down w/o hitting the 5th? 2- under what circumstances does it hit and damage the bed?
Thanks!
