Went looking today, some of you stated you went to several differant dealers and got several differant MSRP quotes. At the one dealer the salesman showed us the "price list" and there were 3 differant MSRP for 3 identical rigs in the lot. He explained that the actual cost to the dealer was identical, and pushed the rig with the highest MSRP so on paper we could get more for our trade. So I guess it would be normal to get a range of MSRP for the same rig. It does make it harder to get a good deal, so the point is what is the actual price you end up shealing out, not the discount!
The "M" in MSRP - stands for "Mysterious"!
That's why you shop for the best price - period.
Don't buy off the lot from dealer stock -(order it).
If you must have it *NOW* - the next will still help - a bit.
No trade-in.
No dealer financing (if you need it, find your own in advance).
If the *mfgr* doesn't publish MSRP, the dealer can call it any amount he wants - change it whenever he wants, etc.
And - for any number of reasons - he *may* have paid a higher price -dealer cost- for identical units.
Which has nothing to do with what *YOU* pay.
You might get 30% off supposed MSRP - I get 20% off supposed MSRP and we both end up paying the
same price out the door for identical RVs.
Who got the better price?..:?
BTW - if you are "negotiating" with a
*trade-in*, as stated before, you are "DRT" - the dealer has you in his back pocket!..:(
It's all "smoke and mirrors"!!..:W
Good trade-in value? = high(er) price for RV you're buying..
Hot price on RV? - lower trade-in value.
WAY better off to sell your current RV yourself. Plenty of folks want it. Also, line up your own financing..;)
Only way to find the best price is to shop for what you want - and order it.
Otherwise you're at *their* mercy.
As always, Happy Negotiating!..:)
