Dealer quoted $700 to run wire for backup cam, Need Advise

So feeling lazy I asked the Dealer to quote me a price to run a wire from kingpin to rear wall for my backup camera.

The job looks difficult but not awful from my vantage point.

They came back @ $771 for 6 hrs labor for them to run my wire, This is just to run the wire, not install camera or screen in truck.

Am i crazy to think this is ridiculously high or is this that difficult of a job?

The unit is a 2015 Montana HC @ 40'

    Some/many/most dealers - are "Stealers"...:(

    Get some quotes from an independent shop...:W

    RV MOBILE REPAIR

    When you get to your next CG ask the CG owner who they use for mobile repair. Call them. Get your lawn chair out and open a cold one. :C

    You'll see how easily it is done and for a price waaay lower than what you were quoted. No fuss no muss and you don't have to drop your RV off for months and hope they get to it before the snow flies.

    Mobile repair will come out to your house too.

    Peeples shud reely lurn two spel. That being said, all the armature shops I have dealt with have been very professional. Rewinding armatures is not a job for amateurs.

    Not sure what type of rear trim you have on the corners but if it's the type that has the plastic insert you can run the wire inside that insert. Did it on our current 5th wheel. You just need to re-caulk the trim at the top and bottom. I ran a wire from inside the 5th wheel, then under the frame and up the rear corner for an XM sat antennae.

    Use your rear view mirrors. That is one of the uses they are there for.

    The dealer I went to last week was 125 bucks an hour plus shop fees .....

    The dealer knows there's a sucker born every hour! That said, reputation of some dealer workmanship is questionable, I know that when I do a project with some research and some thought of how I will accomplish a task I know it will be well done, period!
