The biggest cause of vinyl graphic failure, pealing, cracking is using a "protective treatment" or waxing over them with ANYTHING containing any percentage of Petroleum Distillates in it. The vinyl manufacturers such as 3M warn of this.
The vinyl compound contains UV Protectants and "plastisizers" that are added to keep the vinyl supple and allow it to contract and expand. The Petroleum Cleaning and Waxing products you apply dryes out and destroys the UV protecting properties and plastisizers...and the graphics begin to get brittle, peal, crack and fade.
Use 303 Aerospace or Protectall to give the graphics a good coat of sun screen and they'll have a better survivability rate!
Also...Proper prepping the surface before addng the graphics to the RV Exterior by the RV Manufacturer would improve the adhesion of the graphics...yet seems to be lacking in some cases by some manufacturers.
Note that a company called "Valley Screen Process" in Indiana makes Vinyl Graphics for what seems like most RV Manufacturers, and have patterns for them. They can easily duplicate the old graphics..or design custom for reasonable prices. 44 years in business and owned by 2 women! Jayco, Forest River, Thor, KZ and Keystone all use them.
