Dexter self adjusting brakes

On the Dexter 7K axles, do the brakes self adjust when braking in reverse or going forward? Thanks.
  • I bought a ramp rated for 15K lbs. It collapsed under the weight of my Mobile Suites. There goes $60.
  • Too much weight on one tire. You might be fine, and you might not be fine somewhere down the line. I would avoid doing it.
  • Thanks guys for the come backs on the brake adjusters and tire ramp.

What do you think of running one wheel up a ramp lifting the other wheel off the ground? Too much weight on the single wheel?

I have always done them this way without any problems

  • They will adjust either direction but it is faster in reverse. I would not worry about adjusting the one wheel. It will get adjusted, just drive it.
  • I have one brake that I had to back off the adjuster to get the hub off. When I jack up the axle under the spring pad/shackle, I can't get to the adjuster wheel. So what I have here is three wheels adjusted up and one not. Any problem or will the one wheel adjust up in quick order?
