I don't even bother switching up to the higher HD channels when I watch tV at home but if you have to have it, go for it. sometimes for amusement I select both HD and SD and then flip between them. I suppose there is a difference but I surely wouldn't pay extra for it.

You very obviously are not a movie or sports fan. HD is much much much much much better than SD.
