Probably the actual wire inside the walls of the camper. Like stated above, cheap wire. Not necessarily "cheap", just not designed for Satellite service.
We (use to have) DishTV and had a Tailgater antenna. The DishTV service technician that set us up in the house, sold us a second dish for the roof, only we use it on a tripod for the camper and just brought the receiver with us when camping. He also provided about 50 feet of coax wire. He also informed me that not every kind of coax wire will work.
Sure enough, I tried his wire and later I tried some stuff I had at home. Mine never worked. I always had to be careful to use the correct coax. When attaching to the outside jack on the camper, and then attaching the inside jack to the receiver, it would not work either. Although that distance was only the thickness of the wall, the difference in coax wire, connecting the outside jack to the inside jack, was enough to cause failure. When I stuck the wire through the window and attached directly to the receiver, it worked great!
Later, we purchased a Tailgater. It came with the wire too. We continued to stick the wire through the window and never had a problem again ... well .. until we finally canceled DishTV because their prices kept jacking up and we finally said, enough is enough!
