Disappointed!!!!!!!

DH & I were so excited when we bought our new 2015 Grand Design Reflection 337 RLS. But after a few months of use we are so disappointed in the Quality! It took us a long time to figure out which unit and company to go with. We decided on Grand Design because we loved the layout and the reviews were excellent. And every time we went thru the units we were impressed! Don't get me wrong we still like the unit just every time we take it out something breaks!! Nothing that cant be fixed just very upsetting to spend a lot of money on a unit and have to keep taking it in for repair!!!!! Just venting!! Tara
  • Are the issues component related or actual Grand Design issues? It's one thing when the Furion DVD goes bonkers but it's also another thing when the manufacture wires the cable/sat connections wrong. Just an example.
  • QC is a problem across the RV industry it appears. The three I have bought new all had problems, nothing major, but niggly problems. My current one has had the fewest and I took care of them myself since we are on five month trip in Canada.
  • Our 5th wheel went through a series of issues when first new. All minor stuff but it meant taking the unit in several times to get stuff fixed.

Once the initial bugs were out....we had many years of no problems.

The unit is now 21 years old and still going strong.

Here's what I think happens-- A manufacturer of a successful brand or model of RV has trouble keeping up with demand...quality begins to lack in an effort to keep up with demand, things get missed maybe due to a shift change. Our manufacturer added a 3rd shift when the demand grew because they were getting so many orders for our model. Ours came with both faucets connected to water but not tightened down to the sink. In my mind that is something that would be missed during a shift change.
  • Sad truth is that many, if not most, RVs leave the factory only about 98% built. You and the dealer have to finish it. :-(

  • We purchased our rig used when it was 4 years old. Everything has worked just fine since, and we are very happy with it. In the past 6 or 7 years I have seen evidence of things that had been fixed or replaced before we took over. A new slide motor, a valve behind the tub, and that sort of thing. I could guess that the previous owner of our rig could have felt like you do right now. For us, this is one of the reasons we prefer to buy this sort of stuff used.
  • This is so sad. Folks spend big bucks and get poor quality. And we just accept this as "normal". I have seen video's on RV maunfacturing and most center on speed rather than doing a job to be proud of. Sorry Tara. Hopefully you will get the bugs out during warranty period. Keep detailed records, note everything. Happy trails.
  • Thanks! We sure hope so. Of all the popups and TT we have owned not once did we have an issue!!! Lucky I guess! Tara
  • After this first year you should be good to go! Seems like all new rigs have a lot of "bugs" for the first year (at least ours have)but after that, they become a little more reliable!

    Best Wishes!
