Disc brake controllers

I am looking into putting disc brakes on my fifth wheel and wondering how the GMC integrated controller has matched up to disc brake installations. I run a Triple axle New Vision by KZ behind a 2008 GMC 3500 HD Diesel. I am wondering if the controller works ok with the fixes I have heard about, the cam or an electric brake component wired to give the required resistance.
  • Just had the disc brakes installed on my triple axle and what a difference. I can't believe I have been trying to stop with the drum brakes on the trailer all this time. The disc brakes are smooth and apply beautifully and actually bring me to a stop without the truck brakes being overworked. Morryde had to install two cams on my 2008 GMC Sierra 3500 dually to satisfy my integrated controller. The did a great job and the installation looks great.
  • I installed kodiak disk brakes and used a Hensley Tru gold controller on my 2007 Chev. When I got the 2011 it had intergrated controller. It did not work with my system. I called the controller people, BRAKE RITE, and they said and sold me a thingy to put into their system to work with the chev intergrated controller. So very happy with disc brakes.

I have a 2012 GMC 3500HD with integrated trailer brake controller and tow a 5th wheel with disc brakes.

The GM ITBC will not function properly without brake magnets in the circuit.

    It's a simple fix.

Here's a PDF from Excel with diagram of how to set it up. Scroll down to see the info you need in the PDF.

We have 2011 Chevy and wired the magnets in....works Perfectly! Tells the controller a trailer is attached...
  • Had hydraulic disc brakes put on my 5ver at the Morryde factory. They added a component to make them compatible with the brake controller in my 2008 Chevy 2500HD. I'm sure they could tell you what you need. Ron
  • We have disc brakes on our 38' Carriage and the Max Brake we have used for over 4 years works perfectly for us. Di
  • I vote for the P3, we have different trucks but its a sweet controller on with the disk brakes.
  • I would get a system that has the proper adapter for your integrated controller. If you can not find one, then I would install a compatible controller like the maxxbrake or P3.

By the way, this does not belong in Forum Technical Support due to this has nothing to do with a problem with the forum.
