I picked up Redwood today after having the Morryde iS and discs installed, what a nice ride!!!
I do have a question, the wheels has a ton of brake dust when i picked it up from the dealer ( 600 miles from Elkhart )..
On my 159 mile trip home, i took some temperature readings and they were ALL about the same with not 1 being any hotter..
Rotors- 170-190
Calipers- 200-220
What say you??
The brake dust is probably from semi-metallic pads which usually give the best braking results. Some change to ceramic pads, which are reported to produce less dust. The negative to ceramic pads is that they do not produce as much braking force, so no free lunch with changing to them.
I've hated the dust on my brakes since my truck was new. Recently I replaced my front brakes and the new ones hardly dust at all! What I learned in the process is that not all semi-metallic pads are created equal. I was unwilling to switch to ceramic due to what you said, they don't stop as well. The new brakes are glorious. I always thought the OEM pads on my Ram were excellent other than the dust, but the new pads, which are Raybestos made specifically for heavy trucks/towing, are really exceptional.
