This is all you need to know. It should be perfectly safe to leave the shore power connected 24/7 for storage......as far as keeping the batteries healthy that is.
At this point, you don't need to know where the converter is except just for curiosity. There generally are no "user serviceable" parts there.
IF the batteries are conventional wet cells with removable caps, you need to get in the habit of checking the electrolyte level every couple of months.
