Ditching Dometic Thermostat?

So, per my picture, what do I have?

These old and obsolete thermostats can be easily converted to a home unit.

When I say "digital" I mean the communication with the control box... not the LCD display.

One more time. The newer Dometic thermostat " talks " to the AC/furnace with a digital signal. The thermostat doesn't send the power directly to the fan relay & compressor contactor .

These thermostats are fine. I have the same ones, and had the same problems and frustrations as you. The problem I suspect with yours is that they had a bad batch of the touch screens causing the erratic behavior. Call Dometic customer service, describe the problem, and they will send you replacement face plates for free.

Since I have done that, the problem has completely gone away.

There is a reset procedure in the manual:

System Initialization
A system initialization will need to be performed by installer after system installation.
1. Make sure CT thermostat is Off. See “D. Quick Reference” on page (3).
2. Press the button, and simultaneously press and hold the / Mode button for three seconds. LCD will show “- -”.
This completes system initialization.
Furnace On / Off temperature differential should be set at this time. See “C. “Furnace” - Furnace Mode” on page (7) for more information.

That is same as I posted and cannot be converted by just swapping thermostats.
See the three wires on the top left? That is 12+, 12- and a digital signal wire.

If you want to use a home thermostat you will need to replace the control box up in the A/C lower unit to be the old analog style.

I converted mine to the single zone digital and I like it. I did not keep my old control box :(

This is what it looks like. The responses seem pretty contradicting.

If it's the newer " communicating thermostat " the simple answer is no.
It could be done With a few added parts & extensive rewirein on the unit
