Another or 2 posters suggested that there can be pressure spikes in the night on city systems or when well pumps kick on to the pressure tanks. They are right, they do happen, but only vary by 15-20 psi, not the drastic ranges implied. Mininum pressures and volumes are regulated by our state dept. of health as recommended by NFPA 1194, and the Fed. EPA. Maximums are regulated by the nat. plumbing code.
As a camp operator serving the public from a non municipal water system ( from our wells) licensed as a non community water resouce provider by the EPA, we are required to meet drinking water quality standards, which are as stringent as in your city.
To dispell another myth, that was suggested about pressure, understand the corellation between pressure and volume. Just because the flow is high does not mean high pressure, or low flow does not mean low pressure . These are relevant to delivery piping sizes and distance. A small pipe with high pressure will give a low flow, a big pipe with low pressure will give a a high flow. Get it?
Static pressure, when there is no flow is the only proper measurement.
